Greetings from RSDI!

It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the website of Rabdan Security and Defence Institute, a beacon of strategic insight, innovation, and collaboration in the realm of defense and security.

RSDI aims to become a nexus where expertise, creativity, and foresight converge to address the most pressing challenges facing our nations, the region and the global community. It is a platform for rigorous analysis, informed debate, and forward-thinking solutions. Inspired by UAE’s commitment to innovation and progress and UAE’s unique belief in peace, diversity and tolerance, RSDI will be a center for generating timely policy solutions for peace and stability in the region. As you can see, our work encompasses a wide array of research priorities, however, they all serve the overall objective of enhanced peace and stability.

RSDI is very first think tank in the UAE focused on Defence and Security. The Institute is firmly based on the unique capability of the United Arab Emirates to be at the forefront of innovation and progress yet establish the vision for the future on the rich traditions and values from the past.

Moreover, RSDI is one of the very first think tanks in the UAE established on the basis of a university. Rabdan Academy with its rich tradition of employing the innovative teaching and research methods to educate future leaders of the UAE is a solid foundation. As such, RSDI draws on the diverse subject area and geographic expertise of Rabdan Academy’s faculty, to provide timely, policy oriented research and analysis of the highest caliber, grounded in empirical evidence, and guided by the principles of objectivity and impartiality.

Finally, the mission of the Think Tank informs its activities: defence and security policies created here serve the idea of peace, security and welfare of not only the UAE and the region, but also humankind at large.

Our mission is to provide analysis, research, and recommendations to policymakers on defence and security issues related to the Middle East. The RSDI will aim to enhance the understanding of the region's security dynamics and help identify potential threats, opportunities, and challenges.

This can include an analysis of the capabilities, intentions, and objectives of regional actors, such as states, non-state actors, and transnational groups.
