Mission

The program prepares graduates to become leaders of a multidisciplinary team in the application of standard, ethical, policing practices, procedures, and technologies to ensure public security by identifying threats, assessing risk, and implementing organisational, interagency solutions to maintain stability, reduce crime, and ensure public confidence in the resilience of the nation.

Description

The Policing and Security program consists of courses focused upon the management of police operations in the United Arab Emirates and includes leadership, crime investigation, community policing, strategic planning, and command of operations. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, simulation exercises, and applied real-world scenarios, students learn team organization, professional ethics, interagency operations, and resilience through the core principles of contemporary relevance, integration, cooperation, multi-agency coordination, and interoperability. Graduates are leaders who contribute to the safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness, and crisis management (SSDEC) for resilience of the nation.

Educational Objectives

  • Have relevant technological skills, knowledge, and abilities for employment as a manager in the SSDEC sector.
  • Work, lead, and communicate effectively in a team to achieve common goals.
  • Apply standard, ethical practices, procedures, and technologies to collect information, identify threats, assess risk, and develop effective programs.
  • Implement organizational, interagency solutions to strengthen the SSDEC community and build national resilience capacities.
  • Expand knowledge and capabilities through continuing education, certification, or other lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Fulfil civic duties and responsibilities through local, national, or global service

Learning Outcomes

  • Effectively communicate SSDEC matters using oral, written, and presentation methods
  • Critically evaluate the legal, social, and ethical implications related to SSDEC management and practice
  • Demonstrate knowledge and research methodologies of a range of relevant principles and theories in the application of complex problem solving related to SSDEC national and international sectors
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills within a range of SSDEC contexts to defend positions and innovative solutions
  • Apply SSDEC knowledge, skills and attributes to include multiple perspectives in formulating effective resilience in real world examples and scenarios
  • Apply contemporary learning activities to support the UAE response to evolving policing and security threats and dangers
