Mission

The program prepares graduates for positions as intelligence analysts who are able to lead a team in the preparation of assessments based on the ethical collection, correlation, and analysis of information for the safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness and crisis management (SSDEC) sectors

Description

The program provides a specialised, theoretical foundation and applied skills for a graduate to function successfully as an intelligence analyst. Specifically, graduates possess the skills to critically scrutinise unstructured and often ambiguous data within a variety of competitive, security, and criminal contexts, including organised crime, national security, safety, and terrorism.

Educational Objectives

Have relevant technological skills, knowledge, and abilities for employment as a manager in the SSDEC sector.
Work, lead, and communicate effectively in a team to achieve common goals.
Apply standard, ethical practices, procedures, and technologies to collect information, identify threats, assess risk, and develop effective programs.

Implement organizational, interagency solutions to strengthen the SSDEC community and build national resilience capacities.
Expand knowledge and capabilities through continuing education, certification, or other lifelong learning opportunities.
Fulfil civic duties and responsibilities through local, national, or global service

Learning Outcomes

By successfully completing the MSc in Intelligence Analysis (MIA) program, a graduate will have the following competencies:

Critically evaluate key events and activities in intelligence and counterintelligence from theoretical, historical, and professional practice perspectives.
Appraise current organisational structures, resources, capabilities and responsibilities of intelligence institutions.
Assess information requirements and essential intelligence processes necessary to provide responsible decision-support to commanders and/or managers at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
Critically evaluate professional practice in selecting and applying appropriate processes for collecting, processing, and exploiting information used in intelligence products.
Develop and deliver analytical products, professional written reports, and verbal and/or multimedia presentations.
