Volunteering is one of the values inherent and rooted in the UAE community, and it represents the social aspirations and the well-established meanings of giving in a way that achieves solidarity, brotherhood and cooperation among members of society. Volunteering in itself is also a feature of active societies, as it contributes to employing the energies of society and enriching the country with high-quality expertise and skills.
Volunteering reflects the images of community participation, which is a principle rooted in Rabdan Academy and an important part of its strategy that serves the UAE’s directions in promoting community work and consolidating the principles of participation among different groups and spectra in the Emirati society.
Volunteering Value and Advantage
Through their volunteering, our students acquire different skills and experiences with involvement in the wider community, communication with others, alongside gaining practical experience in an organised, effective and purposeful manner. Volunteering contributes to developing the capabilities of our students and spreading the culture of givers. Therefore, we provide the necessary support for students to engage in voluntary work by announcing various voluntary opportunities and campaigns and planning towards an integrated voluntary ecosystem in which each student has a specific role. The objectives and scope of the volunteer campaign, as well as the role of volunteering student, are always specified in detail.
As a part of the criteria for graduation, each student is required to do 22.5 hours of work connected to volunteering, community service, and integrated health during each semester, for a total of 180 hours of work related to volunteering.
