Dr. Kuang Chang Pien

Assistant Professor

Dr. Pien is an accomplished professional with extensive expertise in engineering, air traffic management, strategic studies, and a passion for both teaching and research. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan. He further honed his academic prowess in the UK, acquiring two Master's degrees from the University of Warwick and a PhD in Air Traffic Management from Imperial College London. His doctoral thesis on the European Air Traffic Network underscores his commitment to innovative solutions in air traffic systems.

Dr. Pien's career commenced in the Taiwan Air Force, where he developed significant skills in foreign affairs and electronic warfare as an Intelligence and Logistics Officer. He notably contributed to managing international military relations, especially with the United States.

In academia, Dr. Pien has distinguished himself as an Assistant Professor at National Defense University, Taiwan, and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at National Taiwan Normal University and Shih-Chien University. His expertise extends to International Strategic Studies and English language instruction, showcasing his diverse instructional capabilities.

Currently, Dr. Pien enriches his academic portfolio as an Assistant Professor at Rabdan Academy, specializing in Electronic Warfare. Concurrently, he serves as an Affiliate Faculty member at the Institute for Global Public Affairs in the USA, with a focus on text mining in China’s social media.

Dr. Pien's research interests are as diverse as his career, encompassing Electronic Warfare Studies, Energy Security Studies, International Strategic Studies, Data/Text Mining, Machine Learning, and Operations Research. He is deeply committed to exploring these areas, both in his research and through his teaching, aiming to drive innovation and share comprehensive knowledge in these fields. His career is a blend of academic achievement and practical experience, underpinned by a dedication to continuous learning and teaching in his varied areas of expertise.

    Dr. Pien is passionate about teaching Electronic Warfare,Numerical Simulation of Traffic Modelling, and Operations Research. He thrives in imparting knowledge on the intricacies of modern defense technologies and strategic analysis to his students.

    Dr. Pien's research interests span Electronic Warfare Studies, and Energy Security, with a keen focus on Data/Text Mining, Machine Learning, and Operations Research. He combines these areas to explore innovative solutions in defense and security, contributing to advancements in both theoretical and applied aspects of these fields.
