Abu Dhabi, 20 August 2026: In collaboration with Penlink, Rabdan Academy hosted a closed Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) simulation training session, supporting its mission to provide world-leading higher education, training and research in the fields of safety, security, defense, emergency preparedness and crisis management.
The session was kicked off by Dr. John Hardy from Rabdan Academy’s Research and Innovation Department and brought together participants from various departments and academic programs within the Academy. The training was designed to provide participants with practical experience in using OSINT techniques and transforming publicly available information into actionable intelligence to support a planned objective.
As part of the simulation, participants were presented with real-life case studies that required them to assess information, identify relevant intelligence and develop an informed approach to addressing the challenges presented. The exercise also incorporated actual on-site OSINT activities, allowing participants to apply their analytical skills in a realistic environment.
Through the hands-on format, participants were able to strengthen their understanding of the OSINT process, from information collection and verification to analysis and the development of actionable intelligence. The training also highlighted the importance of critical thinking, situational awareness and effective decision-making when working with information from diverse open sources.
The closed simulation forms part of Rabdan Academy’s continued efforts to enhance practical learning and professional capabilities across its multidisciplinary community. By combining academic knowledge with realistic operational scenarios, the Academy continues to prepare its participants to respond effectively to complex safety, security and crisis-management challenges.
