Intelligence, today, is central to our security. It is crucial for managing the key national and international security threats that societies and individuals face, ranging from the threat of domestic and transnational terrorism, to digital espionage and attacks, to pandemics, to renewed inter-state, and great power rivalries. Understanding intelligence is also crucial if we are to understand the balance of power between the citizen and the state, particularly given the potential of digital surveillance.
With persistent global security threats and instability, there is an increasingly high demand for security and intelligence specialists in the United Arab Emirates, and throughout the world. The Intelligence & Security research stream at Rabdan Academy examines the trends that continue to shape intelligence and international security developments in the 21st century. Research areas of note within this discipline include: the Role of Intelligence and Security Agencies, State Secrecy, Information Operations, Diplomacy, National Security, Counterterrorism, Covert Action, Cybersecurity, Comparative Policy and Strategy, Homegrown Radicalization, and Political Violence.
Graduates of this track become candidates for intelligence and security agenc, and for corporations (large and small) who must have protected their personnel, assets and information at home and abroad. The Intelligence and Security research stream at Rabdan Academy provides a rich learning environment that helps students develop critical thinking, analytic, research and problem-solving skills complemented with the scholarly breadth of a liberal arts foundation and foreign language proficiency.
