Dr. Mohamad Husam Helmi

Associate Researcher - Assistant Professor

Dr. Mohamad Husam Helmi is a distinguished expert in banking, financial markets, geopolitical risk, and Islamic finance, with a particular focus on the intersection of politics and economics. He has extensively published on the impact of geopolitical developments on stock markets, volatility transmission, spillover dynamics across financial markets and Islamic banks. His recent research underscores the critical role of geopolitical risk in shaping global financial flows, offering valuable insights into market investment strategies.

Dr. Helmi's extensive experience includes his role as an Assistant Professor and Programme Director for BSc Finance at Durham Business School in the UK. He has also served as a Lecturer and Programme Director for Economics and Finance at LBIC/Brunel University and the University of Liverpool. His commitment to academic excellence is further demonstrated through his contributions as an External Examiner at Northampton University.

 He holds a PhD in Economics and Finance from Brunel University London (UK) and has published in leading journals such as the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, the International Journal of Finance & Economics, the Annals of Operations Research, Global Finance Journal, Finance Research Letters, and Economic Modelling.
