Dr JiJen Hwang has been a Research Scholar with the Institute for East Asian Studies (IEAS) at the UC Berkeley in 2018/2019 and an adjunct associate professor at the National Defense University in Taiwan. Now he is an Associate Professor at Rabdan Academy in U.A.E. Before that, he was an Associate Professor & Program Director of the International Master Program in Strategic Studies at the National Defense University in Taiwan. Dr Hwang has been a Military Fellow with the Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) located in Washington D.C. in 2014/2015. He had also conducted internship in the Library of Congress in U.S.A. while doing his Master course. A native of Taiwan, he holds a Ph.D. in politics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the U.K., as well as a Masters in Library Science & Information Studies from the University of North Carolina in U.S.A. Lately, his research is focused on the relations between U.S.A., China, and Taiwan, in which he particularly aims on how social media and the features in cyberspace have political impacts on the relations. He has been known as an expert in the area and been invited as a special lecturer in ThinkTanks such as CSIS in Washington D.C., ASPI in Canberra, NATO, GlobalSec Forum in Europe, and INSS in Seoul. Meanwhile, he remains scholarly relation with George Mason University in U.S.A. as an affiliate faculty.
