Abu Dhabi Digital Authority signs MoU with Rabdan Academy on Scientific, Academic and Training fields
9/12/2020- Dubai: As part of its commitment to enhancing cooperation with research and academic institutions, the Department of Government Support – Abu Dhabi, DGS, represented by the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, ADDA, the government entity that leads the digital transformation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Rabdan Academy to strengthen research and development cooperation in the scientific and academic fields and to establish joint research projects in the field of geographic information system and other related areas.
Under the terms of the agreement, ADDA will support and encourage Rabdan Academy students to find appropriate training opportunities to equip them with experience that qualifies them to secure competitive job opportunities. The Authority also provides digital and spatial data necessary for the development of scientific research, studies and projects through an integrated system that provides students with easy, safe and quick access to reliable data sources.
ADDA and the Rabdan Academy will also take part in joint activities, including conferences, training courses, seminars and workshops in the field of geographic information systems and other areas of common interest. The two parties will additionally exchange advisory services, technical support, information and experiences.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohamed Abdelhameed Al Askar, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, and His Excellency Dr. Faisal Obeid Al-Ayyan, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, at the Abu Dhabi Government’s Pavilion at GITEX Technology Week 2020.
His Excellency Mohamed Abdelhameed Al Askar affirmed the Authority’s keenness to enhance cooperation with the academic sector and its various institutions in the country, noting that ADDA aims to strengthen the leading position of Abu Dhabi in the field of digital transformation by using knowledge, scientific research and development programmes and nurturing a generation of Emiratis capable of shaping the digital future of Abu Dhabi and enhancing its competitiveness in digitisation and technological innovation.
Al-Askar praised the pivotal role played by the research and development sector in national research institutions to support efforts to improve government sector services, stressing that advanced scientific research is one of the fundamental pillars of government sector development in general and government services in particular.
His Excellency Dr. Faisal Obeid Al-Ayyan, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, said that the Academy is making every effort to enhance its presence in the field of digital transformation and harness the latest technologies to pursue its noble mission to prepare new generations of qualified students according to the highest international academic and training standards. Al-Ayyan stressed that these new generations will contribute strongly to promoting the digital transformation process in the country, and emphasised the importance of the joint cooperation with ADDA, the government entity at the forefront of digital transformation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”
